Search Engine Optimization Vol. 2: Image ALT Tags
How to Get Started
I believe that the idea behind ALT tags is fairly simple, but if you need some help getting started, I suggest that you go through your website and fill in the ALT attribute for all of your images. There are some cases where you don’t want to fill in anything for the alt attribute (e.g. spacer images) and in those cases the alt attribute should be present with nothing filled in like below. This is to ensure that your pages stay XTHML compatible since the ALT attribute is required in XHTML.
This concludes volume 2 of the Search Engine Optimization series. Check back soon for the next volume which will discuss the importance and proper use of <TITLE> tags. Until then, feel free to post your questions and I’ll try to help out.
