RICHMOND, IN – Summersault is announcing that it will be experimenting with an unlimited paid vacation benefit for its employees. The change is one part of the company’s overall efforts to facilitate a successful balance between “work life” and “personal life,” and to attract and retain qualified professionals in our industry.
The unlimited paid vacation is available to employees who have been with the company for at least a year, and provides a single, simple policy that covers time out of the office for actual vacations, illness, personal days, parenting, jury duty, religious holidays, and other plans that staff want to make.
Summersault’s previous vacation benefit still offered up to four weeks per year of paid time off, but this program represents a new approach.
“We trust that our staff are professionals who know how to manage their own time and who have the company’s best interests in mind,” said Chris Hardie, Summersault’s Principal. “It makes sense to give them the flexibility to take the time off they need without necessarily having to make financial sacrifices.”
The unlimited paid vacation idea was modeled after the policy created by Seattle-based company Social Strata, which also announced their strategy earlier this year to much press attention. Providing significant amounts of paid vacation is nothing new to many parts of the business world; most countries even mandate much more minimum amounts of paid leave than the U.S.
“In addition to the pure fun of offering this kind of reward to our staff, it’s also very much in line with our values as a company when it comes to creating a work-life balance,” said Hardie.
