RICHMOND, IN — Summersault staff members Matt Christian, Mark Stosberg and Chris Hardie have just returned from attending the 2006 “Yet Another Perl Conference in North America,” a professional developers conference for users of the Perl programming language. The event was held in Chicago, IL from June 25 to June 28 and was sponsored by industry names such as Google, O'Reilly, apress, ValueClick and many others.
At the conference, hundreds of developers from all over the world who use and work on Perl gathered to hear about the latest achievements and best practices related to the software. Many of the presentations were related to web-based application development and testing, of particular interest to Summersault and its client projects. It was also an opportunity for programmers who typically interact with each other online to meet and network in person.
“There were a lot of interesting and entertaining presentations,” said Matt Christian, a developer at Summersault. “It was a great time to learn new skills and meet new people.”
Summersault uses the Perl programming language as its primary development tool for many of the database driven websites it creates. Perl, and the many “modules” that users have created to extend it, allows for rapid development of anything from e-commerce tools to interactive communities to simple customer inquiry forms. Summersault principal developer Mark Stosberg is even a Perl module author, putting him directly in touch with many of the efforts to make Perl even more powerful and functional.
Summersault, LLC, founded in 1997, is a leader in database driven web solutions. The Richmond, Indiana based firm offers a single point of contact for highly customized web design and application development solutions, as well as professional consulting services and support.
