Richmond, IN - Summersault's Principal Developer Mark Stosberg recently returned from the YAPC::NA Perl Conference at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. The conference was a gathering of developers, users, and other technology experts to learn about the latest trends, news, and applications in the Perl community.
Stosberg, who is involved with the collaborative development of several "modules" - extensions to the Perl programming language - enjoyed being able to meet with fellow developers face-to-face. "It was great to meet all of these people whom I've only interacted with online until now," Stosberg said. "The connections we made and the discussions we had were very exciting, and I'm looking forward to integrating what I learned into our development processes at Summersault."
Perl is the primary programming language that Summersault uses for creating customized web application software. According to the Perl FAQ, Perl is "particularly well-suited for tasks involving quick prototyping, system utilities, software tools, system management tasks, database access, graphical programming, networking, and world wide web programming.
