COVINGTON, KY — Summersault Principal Chris Hardie presented a seminar entitled "Websites: Big Tools for Small Recreation Departments" at the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society's state-wide annual conference today. The session was focused on exploring how the technologies of the Internet can enhance the programs and mission of parks and recreation departments throughout the state.
Participants learned about the general characteristics of an effective website, the tools and techniques that make up the website development process, and tips and technologies specific to parks and recreation online needs.
" Many small recreation departments assume that creating anything substantial or useful on the web is out of their budget range," said Hardie. "I think this session made it clear that there are many opportunities to use the web to improve communications and enhance program offerings, without spending a fortune."
Also presenting at the conference was Mark Stosberg, Principal Developer at Summersault. Stosberg discussed the process of building a skatepark, and profiled the case study of the skatepark built in Richmond, Indiana, where Summersault is based. Stosberg created and maintains the definitive online resource for skatepark information, http://www.skatepark.org/.
